The shark. Perhaps no other sea creature is as well known, or as feared, as the shark. Sharks conjure images of horror in many people's minds. Much has been written of the shark's appetite for human flesh. There are those who will not set foot in the ocean, for fear of being eaten alive by this fearsome creature of myth and folklore. But are these myths true? Are sharks really the bloodthirsty man-killer we have labeled them, or have we created this myth through centuries of exaggerated stories?…

Sharks are normally not dangerous instead they are beautiful and awesome animals that do not come up and bite or attack you. Even the Great White, the Bull or the Tiger Shark are not as bad as some people think. The risk of being attacked by a shark is too small to be con

Yucatan diving & travel offers design dive trips, it means we customize and personalize the trips for your group according to the needs of your divers, we work together with the local people to ensure quality service and support the local economy creating a fair market, which allows the locals to have a profit of the tourism that visit the area where we dive, that is not the case of all inclusive resorts which they advertise as ecoresorts and with the lie that they are creating jobs for the…

To me, touching or petting a shark or any other marine creature is not an non-respectful way of interacting, in a few words in doesn't mean you are not respecting the animal. Of course animals shouldn't be chased or harmed, punched or anything like that, but touch and chased, harmed or grabbed are definitely not the same words they are very different. I've had experience touching animals in the wild like turtles, rays, small sharks and even the enormous Whale Shark while I was snorkeling with it…

One of the first reasons a Diver gets in the water with a shark... is to take pictures of the moment they were with the shark or, even better, to film that moment. Most of the Divers always bring a Camara or Video Camara with them. In every dive I have been in all of my SCUBA friends, well or at least 3/4 of them, are there to photograph or film any animal.
Sharks are one of the most awesome animals and because we love them so much, well some of us, we photograph or film them to keep the memory…

Sharks are an amazing animals. They have been on earth for more than 400 million years, 150 million years before dinosaurs when life had just begun, and there was only 1 or 2 continents. They have survived through 5 mayor extinctions, including dinosaur´s, and they are still here, mostly unchanged.
Life on earth evolved from the oceans. Sharks were one of the first animals on the planet. But the very first animals were tiny micro-organisms that created plankton and coral. Invertebrates followed…

"We Dive, We Swim and We Interact"
Isabel Baquerizo
Why dive with sharks?
Well its simple basically, because we can’t be more fascinated by these amazing creatures, well some of us, we just can’t resist to interact with these animals in the wild, encountering them face to face. Sharks Diving, I think, it’s an awesome experience because you have the opportunity to see sharks behavior, and their gracefulness. I personally believe that Diving with Sharks is not only about photographing or…

Going to the ocean today was not what I wanted to see. The world is a raging storm from one coast to the other, When I can't dive I have the tendency to dry out. and that just makes me cranky, California has the some of the best diving around, San Diego has some of the best shore dives around california, the pictures I have posted on the website, are from the shores. and will post more on occations, Pictures are a great way for San Diego divers to share dive sites. and get people excited about d…

I must go down to the sea again,
To the lonely sea and sky;
And all I ask is a sleek tall ship,
And a star to steer her by!
Unfortunately, now, in the middle of winter of 2010, the sea is raging, and the slew of storms piled up like a freight train pounding California, from Hawaii and even from further west off the coasts of China and Japan, is unrelenting.
We are getting the badly needed rain that has been in such short supply here lately, so this is good. Our reservoirs are slowing filling…

Hi, all:
I've set up a
sister site to the Sevengill Shark Sightings website, called 'Humboldt Squid Encounters,' in order to document increasing numbers of encounters between divers and these scary cephalopods:
http://humboldtsquidencounters.org
Anyone who has had encounters in the past, or any in the future, is welcome to submit written accounts and/or photos and video. I will make sure you get credit.
Thanks,
Mikey

The California State Assembly resoundingly approved the passage of AB 634 Tuesday, helping to lay the groundwork for artificial reefing on the state’s coastline.
The bill passed without a single negative vote, announced California Ships to Reefs, sponsor of the bill. It is now in the State Senate, where it will be assigned to a committee for hearing. AB 634 protects state and local agencies from liability in the event of diving accidents that occur on artificial reefs controlled by state agenci…
