6-26-10 at your local beach 11:30 am

We are joining hands to say NO to offshore oil drilling and Yes to Clean Energy and Renewables.

The message is simple. The images are powerful. We are drawing a line in the sand against offshore oil drilling along America?s beaches and across this great land.

Together we have an opportunity to change America and the world. What you are about to do will send a clear message to our leaders that it is time to steer our energy policy towards clean energy options. This could be a critical turning point in finally changing countries? prehistoric energy policies. Let us work together and share our passion and energies to protect our Oceans, our marine wildlife, our beaches and our coastal economies. I extend my deepest appreciation to all of you for Joining Hands.

Very best,

Yes. I will drive down Wednesday, dive Thursday AM and PM dives, then the Friday AM dive, then drive home. I know the Friday dive is the Vandenberg, not sure about the others. The reefs down there are pretty nice too, so I think I can't go wrong.

Thanks, Dan. I found the info so will give them a call. Let them know I'll be calling. Are you going to dive the Vandenberg next week?

The operation is called Dive Key West. You can look them up on-line, they have an 800 number. They way they do the Vandenberg it is pretty easy and safe, after a couple of reefs you might get up your courage. It is a really pretty wreck.

Dan, send me the info on the Key West group. I'll give them a call. I think I'm going to pass on the Vandenberg. I don't think I am quite ready for that. No wreck dive training, one ocean dive & that was at Thanksgiving. lol

I was just diving with Kim in Key Largo last weekend so I know both areas pretty well.

In the upper Keys there are excellent reefs and wrecks, but nothing to do on shore. It is a very short drive from Miami.

In Key West there are also nice reefs and a couple of wrecks (the Vandenberg was just sunk last year and is very nice) but the night life and land-based activities are much better. It is very long drive from anywhere, you are at the end of the earth.

Dan, an escort\instructor would be perfect. I prefer to be with someone that is more experienced until I have more dives.

Kim, I'm only going to have time to dive one day so I have to make a choice & thinking Key West as I don't know when I will make it back.

Having only one chance to dive is Key West my best choice?
Dan Beery Comment by Dan Beery on May 25, 2010 at 2:50pm
I am going there next week to dive for a couple of days. I know a guy who owns a dive shop down there Dive Key West.... it is a first class operation. The folks are very nice, and have been around for 35 years.

Because they get so many infrequent, often inexperienced divers, they keep a pretty close eye on folks in the water. So if you do the Vandenberg, you won't be able to wander around without escort.

If that is ok with you, they are an excellent operation.
